When is Navratri 2026?

Sharad Navratri 2026 begins on Sunday, October 11 with Ghatasthapana and runs through Vijayadashami on October 20. That gives the Bay Area nine nights of festival proper, but the local garba season is bigger than the official dates. In 2025, headline events started as early as late August and ran into mid-October, because promoters spread the big artist nights across the weekends around the festival.

Where can I play garba in the Bay Area?

The Bay Area garba scene has three layers, and it’s worth knowing which one you’re buying a ticket to.

Headline artist nights. Touring Gujarati folk stars like Falguni Pathak, Atul Purohit, Kinjal Dave, and Aditya Gadhvi have filled venues such as the Santa Clara Convention Center, the San Mateo County Event Center, and San Jose’s McEnery Convention Center, drawing crowds in the thousands. General admission has typically run $25–$60. These nights are electric, and they’re also the deep end: the floor is packed and the music gets fast.

Community garba series. Nonprofit and community organizations run multi-night raas garba series, often with live music, at school gyms and community halls, especially around Fremont. These are family-oriented, affordable, and a gentler place to find your feet.

When will the 2026 event lineup be announced?

Honestly: it isn’t out yet, and anyone listing confirmed 2026 dates this early is guessing. Major artist lineups for an October Navratri are typically announced between June and August, with community calendars firming up through September. The lineup fills in through August and September.

How do I get garba-ready before the first night?

Here’s the math that matters: Navratri starts October 11, and classes run through September. That makes August and September your booking window, not October. By the time the festival arrives, you want the steps already in your legs.

A realistic plan:

1. Book a first class now. Your first class is the fastest way to find out how learnable garba actually is.
